[Solved] Looking for Mac OSX coder
« on: November 14, 2005, 02:29:52 PM »

OIS Needs a MacOSX programmer to allow OIS to truly be multiplatform. I have no access to a Mac, and therefor am unable to do the work, or I would be excited to do it - so, if anyone were to donate a semi recent MacOSX box, I wouldn't complain   . However, that is unlikely, so, if anyone wants to take this on, please post here.

I have tried my luck recruiting at gamedev, and have had no luck (of course, not many Gamedev.net'ers wanta do a project like this). And, this is not helped by the smaller Mac dev crowd. Hopefully though, one of you Mac guys is reading this and would like to lend a hand. Just need to get a project and look into the HID stuff (ok, not a small task I admit). Again, if interested, post here..

Thanks,
OIS Team

In the past I've looked at Mac emulators for my PC but all I could find were emulators that required a Mac ROM, a copy obtained from a real Mac.  Maybe the situation has changed now (a year later), or maybe there are emulators for Linux which do not require a Mac ROM.

I've had an offer for an initial Mac port with keyboard and mouse that may be supplied in the near future... Definately a step in the right direction :D

Hows that offer panning out?  I ran into a brick wall with my ogre development, input of course.  I'm just not satisifed with any alternatives and I'd love to use your lib. I got a feel for the setup and built a (semi-functional) mac keyboard class using the carbon event handler yesterday. Basically, just the keys are mapped and the buffer gets updated.  Will be working on learning HID manager and utils now that I have a feel of the system.

I'm taking a full load of CS courses this semester, so at any one time I have at least 2 other projects to work on. No promises, but I should have some much needed time off over spring break to work on hobbies.

No, I havn't heard anything back from the Mac port offer.. It would be absoultely awesome if you did end up having the time to do an HID port  :D

I understand how busy juggling life and school is first hand , so if you have time sweet, if not than no problem.. don't strain yourself trying to get a port if you cannot.
